Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently until smooth.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into squares or circles.
- In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the beignets in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Be careful not to overcrowd the fryer to ensure even cooking.
- For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon to the dough.
