Description

Decadent Chocolate and Orange Layer Cake


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add milk, oil, eggs, vanilla extract, orange juice, and orange zest. Mix until smooth.
  4. Divide batter between the pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  5. Let the cakes cool completely.
  6. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  7. Place one cake layer on a plate, spread whipped cream, and top with the second layer.
  8. Frost the cake with more whipped cream and garnish with orange zest.

Notes

  • You can add chocolate shavings for extra decoration.
  • For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
