Decadent Chocolate and Orange Layer Cake

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add milk, oil, eggs, vanilla extract, orange juice, and orange zest. Mix until smooth.
- Divide batter between the pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let the cakes cool completely.
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Place one cake layer on a plate, spread whipped cream, and top with the second layer.
- Frost the cake with more whipped cream and garnish with orange zest.
Notes
- You can add chocolate shavings for extra decoration.
- For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
