Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a sheet pan.
  2. In a saucepan, combine butter, water, and cocoa powder, and bring to a boil.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the boiling butter mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well.
  5. Stir in buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared sheet pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  7. While the cake is baking, prepare the topping by combining caramel sauce and chopped pecans in a bowl.
  8. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the caramel-pecan mixture over the hot cake.
  9. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the warm cake and let it cool completely.
