- 200g almond flour
- 200g powdered sugar
- 150g egg whites (about 5 large eggs)
- 50g granulated sugar
- Red and blue food coloring
- 250g unsalted butter, softened
- 300g powdered sugar (for filling)
- Vanilla extract (to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, sift together almond flour and powdered sugar.
- In a separate bowl, whip egg whites until foamy, then gradually add granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg whites until fully incorporated.
- Divide the batter into three bowls and color one red, one blue, and leave the third white.
- Transfer the batters into piping bags and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheets.
- Let the macarons sit for 30-60 minutes until they form a skin.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, then let cool completely.
- For the filling, beat softened butter with powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
- Pipe the filling onto the flat side of half the macarons and sandwich with the other half.
Notes
- Make sure to age the egg whites for better results.
- Macarons can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Experiment with different flavors for the filling!
