Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the garlic and mushrooms until softened.
- In a large bowl, mix the heavy cream, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the sautéed mushrooms and half of the Gorgonzola cheese.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the layers.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a lighter version, you can substitute half of the heavy cream with milk.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like spinach or leeks for added flavor.
- Letting the gratin rest after baking helps the layers set better.
