Description

Mississippi Mud Pie is a rich and decadent dessert featuring a chocolate crust, filled with a fudgy chocolate filling and topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups of graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, cocoa powder, sugar, and melted butter. Mix well.
  3. Press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a pie pan to form the crust.
  4. Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let it cool.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar until thick and pale.
  6. Add the chocolate chips and vanilla extract to the egg mixture and stir until smooth.
  7. Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled crust and bake for an additional 25 minutes.
  8. Let the pie cool completely before refrigerating for at least 2 hours.
  9. Before serving, whip the heavy cream and spread it over the top of the pie.
  10. Garnish with chocolate shavings and serve chilled.

Notes

  • Ensure the pie is completely cooled before adding whipped cream to prevent it from melting.
  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
  • This pie can be made a day in advance for better flavor development.
