  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain excess fat.
  4. Add marinara sauce and Italian seasoning to the meat mixture; simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper.
  6. Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture, followed by a third of the mozzarella and a layer of meat sauce.
  8. Repeat layers, finishing with noodles, remaining meat sauce, and the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

  • For added flavor, consider using fresh herbs like basil or parsley.
  • This lasagna can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
