Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, cheddar cheese, mozzarella, Parmesan, milk, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for about 1 hour to firm it up.
  3. Once chilled, scoop out portions of the mixture and roll them into balls.
  4. Dip each ball into the beaten eggs, then roll in breadcrumbs to coat.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the mac and cheese balls in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add some diced jalapeños or hot sauce to the mixture.
  • These can be made ahead of time and frozen before frying. Just add a couple of extra minutes to the frying time if cooking from frozen.
  • Serve with marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping.
