Ingredients

  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut the mozzarella sticks in half if desired.
  2. Set up a breading station: in one bowl, place flour; in another bowl, beat the eggs; in a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip each mozzarella stick first in flour, then in the beaten eggs, and finally in the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.
  4. Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double bread the mozzarella sticks by repeating the egg and breadcrumb steps.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the cheese from leaking out.
