Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Cut the mozzarella sticks in half if desired.
- Set up a breading station: in one bowl, place flour; in another bowl, beat the eggs; in a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each mozzarella stick first in flour, then in the beaten eggs, and finally in the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.
- Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For extra crunch, double bread the mozzarella sticks by repeating the egg and breadcrumb steps.
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the cheese from leaking out.
- You can use different types of cheese for variation.
