  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, cloves, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  7. Roll the dough into balls and then roll in powdered sugar.
  8. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
  10. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
