Description

German Bee Sting Cake is a delightful dessert made with a sweet yeast dough, filled with creamy custard, and topped with caramelized almonds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 100g sugar
  • 250ml milk
  • 100g butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 packet (7g) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 400ml heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150g sliced almonds
  • 100g honey

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast, allowing it to activate for about 10 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter. Knead until smooth.
  3. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking pan.
  5. Roll out the dough and place it in the prepared pan. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. In a saucepan, heat cream, cornstarch, and vanilla, stirring until thickened. Once cool, spread it over the dough.
  7. In another pan, melt honey and add almonds. Toast until golden, then spread over the cream layer.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Cool before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the yeast is fresh for proper rising.
  • You can use a store-bought custard if time is short.
  • This cake is best served the same day for optimal freshness.
