- 500g all-purpose flour
- 100g sugar
- 250ml milk
- 100g butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 packet (7g) active dry yeast
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 400ml heavy cream
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 150g sliced almonds
- 100g honey
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast, allowing it to activate for about 10 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter. Knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking pan.
- Roll out the dough and place it in the prepared pan. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- In a saucepan, heat cream, cornstarch, and vanilla, stirring until thickened. Once cool, spread it over the dough.
- In another pan, melt honey and add almonds. Toast until golden, then spread over the cream layer.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Cool before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the yeast is fresh for proper rising.
- You can use a store-bought custard if time is short.
