Description

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, salt, and half of the flour. Mix until combined.
  3. Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle.
  8. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the dough.
  9. Roll the dough tightly and cut it into 12 equal pieces.
  10. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  12. While the rolls are baking, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla in a bowl to make the glaze.
  13. Once the rolls are out of the oven, drizzle the glaze over them while they are still warm.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use whole milk instead of skim milk.
  • These rolls can be made ahead of time and frozen after baking.
