Ingredients
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth.
Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and then roll them in the additional granulated sugar.
Place the balls onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass or your hand.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden.
Let cool on the cookie sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For added flavor, consider mixing in chocolate chips or sprinkles. Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
