Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup icing sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, warm water, and melted butter together.
  2. Add in the flour, sugar, and salt, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 4-6 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle.
  6. Spread melted butter over the dough and sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly on top.
  7. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Place the pieces in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another hour.
  9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Let cool slightly, then drizzle with icing made from icing sugar and milk.
