Chocolate Lava Cake: Indulge in a Melting Delight!

Description

A rich and indulgent dessert with a gooey chocolate center that flows out when you cut into it.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and chocolate chips together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  5. Stir the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture until combined.
  6. Gently fold in the flour, vanilla extract, and salt until just mixed.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.
  8. Bake for 12-14 minutes until the edges are firm but the center is soft.
  9. Let them cool for 1 minute, then carefully invert onto plates.
  10. Serve immediately, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Be careful not to overbake, as the center should remain liquid.
  • These can be prepared in advance and refrigerated before baking; just add a couple of extra minutes to the baking time.
  • For an extra chocolatey experience, you can add a piece of chocolate in the center before baking.
