Ingredients

  • 1 large loaf of Italian bread
  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers
  • 1 cup sliced onions
  • 2 cups provolone cheese, shredded
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and sauté the onions and bell peppers until softened.
  3. Add the sliced beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
  4. Mix in 1 cup of provolone cheese until melted and combined.
  5. Cut the Italian bread loaf in half lengthwise and hollow out some of the bread from the middle.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the remaining butter with the minced garlic and spread it inside the hollowed-out bread.
  7. Fill the bread with the cheesesteak mixture and top with remaining provolone cheese.
  8. Wrap the loaf in foil and bake for 15-20 minutes, then unwrap and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.
  9. Slice and serve warm.
