Description

A fresh and delicious Caprese Sandwich made with ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices of fresh ciabatta bread
  • 1 medium ripe tomato, sliced
  • 4 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill or panini press.
  2. Drizzle olive oil on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. On the un-oiled side of one slice, layer the mozzarella, tomato, and basil leaves.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Drizzle balsamic glaze over the top.
  6. Top with the second slice of bread, oiled side up.
  7. Grill the sandwich until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  8. Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, substitute mozzarella with vegan cheese.
  • Adjust the amount of balsamic glaze to taste.
