- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 bell pepper, diced
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and minced garlic; sauté until onions are soft.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in beef broth and add diced bell pepper; mix well.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Adjust seasoning to taste and serve hot.
Notes
- For a spicier chili, add diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- Top with shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions if desired.
- This chili tastes even better the next day, so consider making it ahead of time.
