  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These Fried Mac and Cheese Balls are a delightful snack or appetizer featuring creamy macaroni and cheese, breaded and fried to golden perfection, served with a smooth tomato sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the cooked macaroni, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, and Parmesan cheese until well combined.
  2. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, and mix well.
  3. Form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in separate bowls.
  5. Dredge each ball in flour, dip in egg, and then coat with breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot over medium heat.
  7. Fry the balls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve warm with creamy tomato sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add jalapeños to the mac and cheese mixture.
  • These can be made ahead of time and frozen before frying.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the balls from absorbing too much oil.
